EUSeA regrets exclusion of aquatic foods from EU protein agenda
The European Union Seafood Alliance (EUSeA), of which FEAP is a member, welcomes the European Commission’s renewed focus on protein resilience and sustainable food systems. However, the Alliance regrets that fisheries, aquaculture and seafood processing have been excluded from the EU’s new protein agenda. EUSeA calls for aquatic foods to be fully recognised as strategic contributors to Europe’s food security, sustainability and competitiveness through an ambitious EU Blue Foods Action Plan as part of the forthcoming Vision for Fisheries and Aquaculture 2040. The Alliance stands ready to work with the Commission to ensure that aquatic foods receive the recognition they deserve within the EU’s future food strategy.
