Successful “Deep Dive” for the first FEAP NextGen Academy training /2025/03/31/great-success-for-our-first-1-nextgen-academy-dive-into-eu-institutions/ Mon, 31 Mar 2025 09:12:47 +0000 /?p=10022

The first FEAP NextGen Academy training “ A deep dive into EU institutions” was completed over two days on March 25th and 26th 2025. For FEAP, this has been a fascinating and innovative innovative action to organise.

When we started a few months ago developing this idea, we were never expecting to drive so much interest and so many applicants for this first edition. FEAP received over a hundred applications, and choosing 15 participants has been very difficult as we had to sort so many good profiles.

The whole process, from organisation to delivering, has been extremely energizing. Indeed, the team we hosted for two days created a unique blend of backgrounds, languages, professional skills, personal life stories, boldness, fun facts and energy. They made the most out of their two days and had the chance to meet with representatives from AAC, MAC, EATIP, FEFAC, DG Research, DG MARE, and MEPs. All enjoyed connecting and interacting with various EU stakeholders, and many brought to the table very practical questions and challenges which they wanted to address first hand with the European stakeholders involved in the training. After this first training, we feel the future of aquaculture will be bright!

We could not be more convinced that, to make #EUAquaculture the champion sector it must become, all EU producers horizons must meet, young professionals and their story must be at the center and receive all the attention, space and resources needed so that their energy and motivation unfurls into sustainable successes.

One thing’s for sure: FEAP and the #FEAPNextGenAcademy will be there to push in that direction, and our first class of 2025 – the EU’DeepDive Class – will inspire our work in the months and years to come.

Thank you again to our sponsor #Aquasoja SOJA DE PORTUGAL who trusted in FEAP and this first NextGen Academy edition!

‘Farmers of the Water’ education toolkit /2025/01/27/farmers-of-the-water-education-toolkit/ Mon, 27 Jan 2025 14:45:15 +0000 /?p=9922

On January 24th 2025, in celebration of the International Day of Education, the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) announced the release of the “Farmers of the Watereducation toolkit.

Set into the FAO BlueTransformation program of aquaculture in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea, this publication is designed to take teachers and students throughout the Mediterranean and the Black Sea on a journey to discover the aquaculture sector in their region. By working through the activities in the toolkit, students discover their power to contribute to sustainable and resilient farmed aquatic food systems.

This work is in line with the FEAP ambitions and priorities, which highly value the relevance of training young and teenage students in its actions, such as our FEAP NextGen programme, which in 2025 will initiate a series of concrete actions to boost knowledge, capacity and interconnections between young aquaculture professionals at EU level – learn more about the FEAP NextGen programme.
